Duder Regional Park

42km from Auckland CBD
2 Hours Coastal to farm loop

Dogs: No

This walk is ideal for families, nature lovers and budding photographers looking to capture a windswept wonderland at its best. The area showcases the Hauraki coastline and boasts some serene little beaches, sitting comfortably alongside classic Kiwi farmland complete with sheep and lambs (if you're lucky).

From the gate there is an easy grade metal road that leads you to the Waipokaia Bay turn off. From here you can either take the coastline track which is only accessible at low tide or take the farm loop, We suggest you take the coastal track and then clamber up the grass banks to the farmland area for the best of both worlds.Pohutukawa dot the sandy shores and provide unique playgrounds for the kids, with plenty of climbable options along the track. The water is exquisitely blue and with calm conditions and little surf it's an ideal swimming destination for kids.
Near the tip of the headland you want to make your way back to the farm loop track and move towards the trig point, which offers you unparalleled views of the Hauraki Gulf. This is a perfect spot to take a picnic and enjoy the salty sea air while taking in the breathtaking 360 degree view. From here you walk across farmland back to the car park. One hot tip is to carry a stick on your walk to help ward off the swooping magpies - we found this one out the hard way.
